David Perry Wilson, age 73, of Sullivan, IL formerly of Oakland, IL and Casey, IL was called home at 11:03 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at his residence at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan, IL. He was born May 21, 1947 at his home in Casey, IL to the late Raymond “Bob” and Rosalee (Slater) Wilson. Later, his family moved to Union Township where he roamed the countryside fishing and swimming in local ponds with his friends.

David leaves behind his son, Stacey (Bethany) Wilson of Charleston, IL; daughter, Sarah Wilson of Humboldt, IL; former wife, Lou Ann Smith of Charleston, IL; five grandsons and four granddaughters; sisters, Linda Wilson of Casey, IL, Peggy Shonk of Casey, IL, Priscilla Wilson of Kissimmee, FL; brothers, Larry Wilson of Kellyton, AL and Scott Wilson of Casey, IL. David was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerry Wilson and Jeffery Wilson.

David was a 1966 graduate of Casey High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served honorably in the Vietnam War. He was always a proud veteran and lifetime member of the VFW. David also worked as a kitchen laborer at Eastern Illinois University and enjoyed doing carpentry. Most folks that knew Dave would say he always had a smile on his face. He loved to dance and had a joy for life.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date with internment of cremains at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by Casey VFW as well as Hazel Dell American Legion at that time.

Memorial donations may be made to family c/o Stacey Wilson, 760 7th St. Charleston, IL 61920.
