Darrell Michael “Mike” Brandenburg, age 72, of Casey, IL was called to his eternal home at 10:32 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN with his loving wife of 36 years Pam at his side.

Mike was born on May 24, 1948 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Donald Everett “Bud” Brandenburg and Mary Lou Carl Brandenburg. On July 28, 1984 he married Pam Brandenburg at Casey White Oak Church of God where they still attended. 

Survivors include his wife, Pam Brandenburg of Casey, IL; mother, Mary Lou Brandenburg of Casey, IL; children, Michael Wayne Brandenburg (Amber) of Casey, IL, Kacey Jo Stark (Tommy) of Casey, IL and Kaleb Joe Brandenburg (Jessica) of Marshall, IL; brother, Donnie Brandenburg (Janet) of Casey, IL; brother-in-law, Kevin Larkin of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Saidee Brandenburg (Alex Truelove), Levi Brandenburg (Myriah Warner), Karmyn Stark, Tripp Stark, Quade Speros, Gannon Brandenburg and Jaxton Brandenburg; great granddaughter, Paisley Truelove, many nephews, nieces, cousins, his Church family and wonderful friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Brandenburg; sister, Marilyn Jo Brandenburg Larkin and infant son, Mathew Dean Brandenburg.

Mike was a 1966 graduate of Casey High School. He spent most of his life working the family farm alongside his father, brother and sons.  Like his dad Mike was a meticulous farmer who preferred John Deere green.  He always had time to visit people and took the time to visit when people stopped by and was always willing to share his many stories.

He spent many years on the Casey Fire Department and retired as First Assistant Chief.  He was currently serving on the Clark County Board, Casey Township Board and Precinct Committeeman.

Mike followed his grandpa Carl’s footsteps and joined the Casey Masonic Lodge #442 where he served as Master four times and a life member; Ainad Shrine; lifetime member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Danville; Past Most Wise Master of George E. Burrow Chapter of Rose Croix and Commander in Chief of Danville Consistory and Dual member of Valley of Terre Haute, IN.  Mike was honored to be awarded a 33rd degree in Chicago on August 30, 2011; York Rite bodies of Bridgeport, IL.  Mike served as Worthy Patron of Areta Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star eight times and Assoc Patron of their dual Chapter of Kansas #774.  He was appointed Grand Representative of Washington in 2007 and to Ontario in 2017.  He enjoyed attending the meeting with all the Brothers and Sisters. 

Mike loved supporting his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces at the 4-H County and State fairs.  You could always find him on the sidelines of the Warrior football games cheering on his sons and grandson.  He also enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s softball games.  

Mike was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, papaw, great grandpa and friend.  If someone needed anything he was always there to help.  He was known to be a man of his word and gave the BEST HUGS!

An Open House celebrating Mike's life will be held at the Casey Masonic Lodge #442, 105 E. Main St., Casey, IL from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
