Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Wimbley

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Wimbley, age 64, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Casey Healthcare Center, Casey, IL after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  She was born May 16, 1958 in Terre Haute, IN the daughter of Robert Ross “Bob” Rue and Marsha Sue (Shafer) Rue.

Survivors include her mother, Marsha Rue of Casey, IL; children, Jason Wayne Wimbley (Dinah) of Casey, IL and Jennifer Lynn Winschief (Chris) of Casey, IL; siblings, Roger Rue (Joanne) of Winter Springs, FL and Lori Romanelli of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Dustin Weger of Marshall, IL and Rachel Weger of Charleston, IL; nephews and nieces, Sean Goudreau (Christy) of Mt. Dora, FL, and Kristen Romanelli of Batavia, IL; great nephews and nieces, Carson Goudreau, Leah Goudreau and Parker Wood; aunts, Sharon Rue of Casey, IL, Sharleen Maxey of Ft. Meade, FL, Bonnie Baird (Don) of Martinsville, IL, Julie Briggs (Chuck) of Tilton, IL and Melanie Evans (David) of Weatherford, TX; uncles, John Rue (Nancy) of Peotone, IL and Richard Rue (Kathy) of Houston, TX and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, Bob Rue; brother, Randall Lee “Randy” Rue; grandparents, Buck and Alice Rue and Charlie and Rosalyn Shafer; aunts, Mary Sue Watson and Andrea Rue and uncles, Rhondal Rue, Ben Rue, Tony Rue, Jack Rue, Rodney Rue and Bill Maxey.

Cindy attended Morton High School. She received her Early Childhood Education and Paraprofessional degrees from Lake Land College. She worked as a paraprofessional substitute for Casey Westfield School District for many years.  Cindy enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, baking and cooking and was an avid Casey sports fan. She never met a stranger and always enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends.   

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Ellis officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.  Burial will be at a later date in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, IL.
