Cordelia Emmelyne Helsel

Cordelia "Emmelyne" Helsel, age 89, of Casey, formerly of Bethany, OK, died on Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Casey First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Charles Helsel and Pastor Mark Copley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church and burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery, Bethany,OK.

She was born November 24, 1915 in Joes, CO, the daughter of Walter L. and Ruby Ann Pryor Miller. She married Rev. Charles Kenneth Helsel in 1932 in Joes, CO; he preceded her in death in 1980.

She was a pastor's wife for 40 years and also worked for 14 years in the Southern Nazarene University Library in Bethany. She was a member of the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and served as the Missionary President of the Colorado District Church for 11 years. She was also a soloist for local churches and revivals.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Helsel and wife Darlene of Berthoud, CO, and Robert Helsel and wife Janice of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Laurel Hubbard and husband Robert of Casey; grandchildren Brenda Carlsen and husband Glenn, Bonita Dayton, Diane Range and husband Bill, Catherine Houts and husband Stan, Mark Helsel and wife Paula, Marshall Helsel and wife Melissa, Rebecca Hubbard and Russell Hubbard and wife Cathy, great-grandchildren Sharon Causey, Shiloh Carlsen, Rachel and Spenser Brown, Bridget and Jesse Range, Kyle and Katrina Houts, Heather Elliott, Patricia, Victoria, Christa and Jonathan Helsel, Benjamin, Lyndsy, Brittney and Russell Hubbard, and great-great grandchildren Elijah Elliott, Emily Hubbard, Braydin Connolly and Talia Hubbard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Gladys A. Killion and one grandson, Robert Hubbard.
