Cora Ellen (Bennett) Crane

Cora Ellen (Bennett) Crane, age 96, of Marshall, IL passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Springhill Village in Terre Haute, IN.  She was born December 17, 1923 in Thompsonville, IL, the daughter of Albert Allen Bennett and Nancy Lampley Bennett.  On March 27, 1943 she married Jack Walter Crane in St. Charles, MO; he preceded her in death on March 26, 2013. 

Survivors include her children, Sharon Ann Sharp of E. Carondelet, IL; Mary Alice DeBarba of Berryton, KS; Roy Crane and wife Cathy of Martinsville, IL; Barbara Peugh and husband Marvin of rural Sterling, IL, and Jack Stephen Crane and wife Patty of Cincinnati, OH; daughter in law, Janice Crane of Martinsville, IL; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.  She was preceded by her parents, husband; brothers and sisters, Oscar Lampley, Elmo Bennett, Karl Bennett, Jesse Bennett, Evalene Hilligoss Doty, Maime Herrick, Versa Suttle and Thelma Loop; sons in law, David Sharp and Ronald DeBarba; son, Allen Ray Crane and grandson, Michael Watson.

Mrs. Crane attended Humboldt High School. Cora and Jack farmed nearly their entire married life in rural Marshall, IL. Cora was a homemaker and dedicated farm wife.  Cora was a faithful member of Five Points Christian Church. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville, IL with Brother Fred Morecraft officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. Attendees should stay at least 6 feet apart and wear a cloth face covering.)
