Clara Elizabeth Scott, age 89, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 12.32 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Clara was born on December 20, 1931 in Johnson Township, Clark County, Illinois, the daughter of Claude H. and Freida R. Wright Yealick. On October 3, 1954, she married Richard R. Scott.
Clara was a 1950 graduate of Casey High School. She worked as a telephone operator for the Russell Logue Telephone Company before becoming a farm wife. Clara was a member of the Moriah Church of God. She faithfully attended the Casey White Oak Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Casey, Illinois; one sister, Violet Yealick of Groveland, Florida; three daughters, Diana Ring of Paris, Illinois, Dira Kile (Ed) of Marshall, Illinois and Delena Higginbotham (Paul) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; four granddaughters; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and several nephews and nieces. Preceding Clara in death were her parents; sisters, Hazel Veach and Wilda Keeney; brothers, Paul Yealick and Merle Yealick; son-in-law, Chet Ring and brothers-in-law, Earl Veach and Glen Keeney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Toner and Pastor Justin Janney officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, Illinois. (Per CDC guidelines attendees not vaccinated should socially distance and wear a cloth face covering.)
