Christopher Brian Snedeker, age 56, of Casey, IL died at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home in rural Greenup, IL surrounded by his loving wife and children. Chris was born on November 12, 1963 in Charleston, IL the son of Janet Reed Snedeker and Lloyd R. “Joe” Snedeker. He married the love of his life, Rachel Ruth Robey Justice at Trinity Lutheran Church, Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel; children, Christopher Brian Snedeker II, Nadia Nicole Petersen (Dillon), Elijah Justice (Hallie) and Jordan Justice; grandson, Cannan Justice; parents, Lloyd “Joe” and Janet Snedeker; sisters, Marsha Goble (Roger), Joan Vick, Gretchen Murphy (John) and brother, Brent Snedeker. Other survivors include mother in law, June Robey, brothers and sisters in law, aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chris was baptized and confirmed and was an active and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He held various offices, including President of the congregation, was an elder for many years and a member of Lutheran Laymen's League. Chris also taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, led adult bible study and led the nursing home ministry.
He was a 1981 graduate of Casey High School and attended Lake Land College. Chris served his country in the United States Army as a tank division medic in Germany for three years. He entered the insurance business after his honorable discharge and continued a successful business career. He was very active in the community, was a former Rotary Club President, and known for his kindness toward others.
Due to current social restrictions, services in honor of Chris will be limited to family only at Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Gary Fortkamp, family friend. Burial will follow in the Aten Cemetery, Hidalgo, IL with Military Rites by the Greenup VFW.
