Charles Ray Carver, age 67, of Casey, IL passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born October 4, 1954 in Charleston, IL the son of Frederick Clinton Carver and Elizabeth Ann (Lib) Handley Carver. On August 19, 1978, he married Brinda Sue VanScyoc in Casey, IL; she passed away on April 5, 2001.
Survivors include his brothers, Jerry Carver (Cherie) of Pulaski, TN and Ron Hardy of Noble, OK; sisters, Deanna Guffey of Casey, IL, Clara “Macky” Shelton of Casey, IL, and Beverly Carver of Martinsville, IL; foster daughter, Sabrina Warner in Greenup, IL; many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wesley John Carver, Frederick Carver and Danny Carver and sister, Brenda Gail Brooks.
Charles was a 1972 graduate of Martinsville High School in Martinsville, IL. He worked at Petty and Co. for twelve years in Effingham, IL. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Finney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell Cemetery in Cumberland Co., IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday morning at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC Guidelines indoor masks and face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status in the facility. Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
