Catherine "Tut" Bernice Francis

Catherine Bernice “Tut” Francis, age 83, of Westfield, IL passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, Mattoon, IL.  She was born September 26, 1936 in Westfield, IL the daughter of Frank “Dude” Adams and Naoma Merrick Adams.  On September 24, 1960, she married Randall Raydell Francis in Westfield, IL.

Survivors include her son, Cory Blake Francis (Sue Ellen) of Mattoon, IL; sister, Patsy Etnire of Owensboro, KY and several nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Sophia Kirkley.

“Tut”, as her family and friends affectionately referred to her was a 1955 graduate of Westfield High School and a lifelong resident of Westfield, IL.  She was a faithful member of the Westfield United Methodist Church, where she was a trustee, served on the nominating and Pastor Parish committees and taught Sunday school.  Tut enjoyed cooking, quilting, puzzles, reading, gardening and especially enjoyed visiting on her front porch with neighbors.  She was a school bus driver for over 18 years for Casey Westfield School District and previously worked as a waitress in area restaurants.    

Due to current social restrictions and our concern for family and friends services in honor of her will be limited to immediate family only.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
