Carolyn Sue Miller, of Martinsville, IL died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the age of 87. She died at home surrounded by her three boys and then was reunited with her parents, husband, four brothers and a sister, and dear friends like Elvia Murphy at the gates of heaven. She was born on May 24, 1933 in Martinsville to J.I. and Edna (Snyder) Baird. On May 29, 1952, she married Dale Miller. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2016.
Carolyn is survived by her sons: Bradley Miller (Kathy) of Fort Wayne, IN, Richard Miller (Jean Ann) of Grapevine, TX, and Brian Miller (Danelle) of Casey, IL; six grandchildren: Jessica Finney (Dale) of Casey, IL, Shaun Miller (Elizabeth) of Fort Worth, TX, Tom Miller (Beth) of Chicago, IL, Alyssa Mariasy (Kristopher) of Mattoon, IL, Cayden Miller and Ethan Miller of Casey, IL, and three great-grandchildren: Melody, Corbin, and Duane Miller of Fort Worth, TX. Also surviving are six siblings, Don Baird (Bonnie) of Martinsville, IL, John Baird of New Cumberland, WV, Charles Baird (Liz) of New Cumberland, WV, Peggy Snyder of Champaign, IL, Bill Baird (Laurie) of Caseyville, IL, and Lynn Denham (Tim) of Martinsville, IL.
Carolyn was a good mom, a good listener, and a good friend. She was always optimistic and encouraging. She was known to make a new friend every time she went into a store. She loved to travel and learn new things. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed youth fiction. She was always up to date on all the news of the day. She faithfully attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Casey, IL.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Baird Cemetery in rural Martinsville, IL.
