Carole Partlow Obituary

Carole Anne Partlow passes away this morning February 21, 1955 at 5:30.
The entire community is today mourning over the loss of one of its beloved younger citizens, Miss Carole Anne Partlow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion (Jane) Partlow, who passed away this morning, Monday, February 21, 1955 about 5:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony's hospital, Terre Huate, IN, at the age of 16 years, one month and 22 days.
Carole, who had been in poor health for several months, was taken to the hospital on February 4th, where her illness was diagnosed as hepatitis, a disease of the liver. Although, at various times after her admission to the hospital she seemed to rally a little, her overall condition grew steadily worse until death claimed her young life at that fatal hour this morning.
One of Casey's most promised and vivacious young ladies, Carole was a sophomore in the local high school, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the school choir, and participated in many other extra-curricular activities.
Perhaps her favorite hobby was horseback riding, at which she was very adept and many will remember seeing and greeting her on a pleasant summer day as she rode out in the country or around town on her beloved steed, "Major." She also enjoyed tap dancing, driving a car, and most of all she loved people - all people, for whom she always had a friendly smile.
In bedside Baptismal rites performed last night, she became a member of the Restitution Church.
Left to grieve the loss of their loved one besides her parents, are one brother, Marion, Jr, 18; one sister, Roanna, 4; maternal grandfather, James Alkire and her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry (Bertha Hills) Partlow, in addition to a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ethel (Conel) Alkire.
Funeral services will be conducted from the EUB Church on Wednesday, February, 23, 1955 with Bro. C.R. Randall of Troy, Ohio officiating, assisted by Rev. George E. Jacobs. Friends may call at the Henry Partlow residence, S. Central Ave., after 1:30 on Tuesday and until noon, Wednesday. The Markwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial is in the Partlow Cemetery, rural Casey, IL.
