Carl William Remlinger, Sr., age 84, of Casey, IL passed away at 6:47 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born April 7, 1939 in rural Marshall, IL the son of Robert Quincy Remlinger and Mildred Louise Clouse Remlinger. On July 16, 1968 he married Lilly Ann Bennett in Marshall, IL; she passed away on October 17, 2019.
Survivors include his sons, Carl Remlinger, Jr. of Casey, IL and Bob Remlinger (Bridgette) of Martinsville, IL; grandkids, Kayla Wilson (William), Heather Remlinger, Gunner Remlinger (Jerrica), Gavin Remlinger, Konner Remlinger and Kamryn Remlinger; great grandkids, Laila Wilson, Leo Wilson, Laken Wilson, Barrett Remlinger, Oakleigh Remlinger, Harrison Remlinger and Leighton Remlinger; brother, Richard Remlinger of Casey, IL; sisters, Martha Remlinger McGregor of Springfield, IL, Ann Remlinger Daniels, Donna Remlinger Daniels and Mary Remlinger Johnson all of Lincoln, IL; sister in law, Linda Remlinger of Lincoln, IL; brother in law, Rev. Loren Eugene “Gene” Southard of Casey, IL, many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Quincy and Mildred Remlinger; wife, Lilly Remlinger, brothers, Robert Remlinger and James Remlinger; sisters, Catherine Sue Remlinger Hout, Ruth Ann Remlinger Southard and Patty Jo Remlinger Roe.
Carl retired after 32 years at Rowe Foundry in Martinsville, IL. He also helped several local farmers during their busy seasons. Carl learned at a young age to work hard; he started working at age 14 to help support his family. Carl and Lilly enjoyed driving around and sightseeing. They also loved raising animals and had many different kinds of animals through the years. He attended Friendship Church and was a former member of the Casey Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
