Obituary

Bobby K Staley, age 77, of Casey, IL passed away at 4:06 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.  He was born April 16, 1945 in Casey, IL, the son of Robert Staley and Bertha Lorine (Knecht) Staley.  On September 16, 1983 he married Becky Sue Davis Chrysler at the First Baptist Church in Martinsville, IL.

Survivors include wife of almost 40 years, Becky Staley of Casey, IL; children, Cory Staley (Darletta) of Springfield, IL; Jason Chrysler of Casey, IL; Michael Staley (Kayla) of Glen Carbon, IL and Jody Burleyson (Randy) of Aurora, IL; grandchildren, Jayln Chrysler, Brayson Chrysler, Elliott Staley, Adam Staley, Kyra Staley, Kasen Staley, Tyler Burleyson, Nate Burleyson and Sydney Burleyson; twin sister, Betty Hudson (Larry) of Moweaqua, IL; brother, Steve Staley of Indianapolis, IN; many nephews, nieces, his Church, EMA and Fire Department families and many friends and acquaintances.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers, Ernest Staley and LeRoy Staley and nephews, Douglas Staley and Brian Hudson.

Bobby attended Casey High School.  He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1963 - 1968 as a Staff Sargent in the US Air Force.  Upon his return to Casey he owned and operated Staley Wrecker Service.  He later worked for the Casey Westfield School District as the bus maintenance supervisor.  Bobby was an avid photographer; he loved his community and proudly served as the Casey EMA Assistant Director, Co-founder of Casey Community Christian Toy Drive, Past President of Clark County Shrine Club; Co-chairman of Penny Patrol (raising funds for playground equipment for Casey Fairview Park) and was a Casey Fire Department volunteer for 28 years.  Bobby was voted Casey Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2007 and Casey Fireman of the Year in 2009.  Bobby was a member of the Casey VFW Post 5762 and Casey First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Casey First Baptist Church with Pastors Jon McDonald, Billie Ray Ulrey, Tom Marsh and Gene Ellis officiating.  Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday evening at Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL.
