Betty May Goodwin Obituary

Betty May Goodwin, age 90, of Casey, IL, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born on August 5, 1930 in rural Annapolis, IL, the daughter of Charles Chesser and Minnie May Hart Chesser. She married Charles W. Facer of Ottawa, IL, they had one son Okey.  On June 16, 1956 she married Denzil Edward Goodwin in Robinson, IL.  He preceded her in death on September 18, 2007 after 51 years of marriage.

Survivors include her son Okey Facer Sr. (Jan Watkins) of Casey, IL and their adopted daughter Selena; grandson, Okey Facer Jr. and wife Jeanette of Pocahontas, IL and their daughter Jacqueline Facer (Daniel Forsburg) and grandson Avery Forsburg, Nathaniel Facer, Raegan Facer and Griffin Facer; grandson, Gary Facer and wife of Boulder, CO; grandson, Mark Facer of KY and his family Hunter Facer, Maverick A. Facer, Elizabeth Manning and three great great grandchildren; granddaughter, Jennifer Facer Hunt of KY and her two sons; son, Jessie E. Facer of KY and his family Jacob Facer, Shahonnah Nicole Facer, Jessie Facer and two great great granddaughters and other great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Chesser and Minnie May Hart Chesser Snearley; stepfather, Lester Snearley; husband, Denzil Goodwin; brother, Byrl Chesser; sisters, Burdenia Hart and Hilda Chesser Goss; stepsisters, Faye Stephens, Juanita Osborn and Marjorie Wright; stepbrothers, Cecil Snearley, Carl Snearley and Marshall Snearley.

Betty attended school in Annapolis, IL.  She worked as a cashier for Goben’s Convenient Store in Casey, IL.  Betty was an active member of the Casey Senior Social Center; if she wasn’t home, she was at the Senior Center. She was a proud member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5762 in Casey, IL. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Jon McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.  (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. Attendees should stay at least 6 feet apart and wear a cloth face covering.)
