Betty Jean (Leohr) Griffin

Betty Jean (Leohr) Griffin, age 85, of Casey, IL formerly of Westfield, IL passed away at her home at 6:37 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020.  She was born January 25, 1935 in Hazel Dell, IL, the daughter of Loyd Emery Leohr and Mildred Conova Huddleston Leohr.  She married John Russell Griffin; he passed away on March 24, 2015.

Survivors include sons, Allen Griffin of Kansas, IL and Rusty Griffin of Ashmore, IL; daughter, Karen Finney (Scott) of Westfield, IL; sister, Opal Darling of Greenup, IL; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Allen “Jack” Leohr, Homer Lee “Sam” Leohr, Paul Wayne “Bus” Leohr; son, Carl Edward “Ed” Griffin; grandson, Derrick Allen Griffin and great grandson, Adrian Lee Blackford.

Betty was a 1953 graduate of Casey High School.  She continued her education at Lake Land College obtaining her LPN license.  Betty worked for Coles County Council on Aging which is now the LifeSpan Center for many years.   Betty had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her flower garden.  She was generous with her time and enjoyed talking to and helping many people.

Honoring Betty’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held at a later date.
