Allen Elsworth Hupp

Allen Elsworth Hupp, age 89, of Greenup, IL passed away at 6:44 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Mattoon Health and Rehab, Mattoon, IL.  He was born January 14, 1932 in Camargo, IL the son of Harry Alonzo Hupp and Mary Mabel (Massie) Hupp-Jones.  On February 14, 1981 he married Alberta Abby Harris in Westfield, IL. 

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Abby Hupp of Greenup, IL; stepchildren, Stanley Jack Hensley (Paula Bonesteel) of Greenup, IL and Janie K. Oakley of Casey, IL; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene, Floyd, Ronny and Leon Hupp; and sister, Mary Walden.

Allen was a 1949 graduate of Oakland High School.  He served his country in the US Navy from 1951-1952 during the Korean War as a Fireman E-1; he received a medical honorable discharge. Allen retired in 2016 at the age of 84 after trucking for 10 years with Reynolds Nationwide, Inc. in Mattoon, IL. Allen was a truck driver for a spray service and was an elevator manager in Westfield, IL.  He previously worked for Nickle Plate Rail Road where he climbed and set poles.  Allen was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge Danville Consistory; a member of American Legion and a member of Teamster Local Boun Bonteamsters of Northern FL.  Allen enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and camping.  He and Abby were faithful members of Plum Grove Church. 

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup, IL with Pastor Marvin Oakley officiating.  Military Rites will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
