Sheila May (Wilson) Bland

Sheila May Bland, age 81, of Casey, IL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her residence. She was born August 4, 1940 in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Kenneth L. Wilson and Helen M. Gardner Wilson McKelfresh. On July 7, 1974, she married Vern “Ferd” Bland; he passed away on October 7, 2016.

Survivors include her sons, Greg Ashley (Sombut) of Mena, AR and Christopher Ashley of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Jimmy Wilson of Casey, IL; and sister, Debbie Siegrist of Miami, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Vernie Dale Bland; and brother, Kenny Wilson.

Sheila was a 1958 graduate of Casey High School. She studied nursing at Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. Sheila was a retired registered nurse, starting her career at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey, IL in 1971 and retiring in 2015. She loved her patients and provided them excellent care for over thirty years. For 10 years, Sheila also cared for her loving husband until his death. Sheila was a member of the Casey First Christian Church. She also enjoyed gardening and loved to travel having traveled all over the world.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with Pastor Evan Sherar officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to Casey Township Library, 307 E. Main St., Casey, IL 62420.
