June L (Monroney) Shore

June L. Shore, age 97, of Plainfield, IN formerly of Casey, IL passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Sugar Grove Senior Living, Plainfield, IN.  She was born February 4, 1927 in Hazel Dell, IL the daughter of Lyle Monroney and Catherine Henderson Monroney.  On April 20, 1947 she married Willis Shore in Hazel Dell, IL; he passed away on January 27, 2006.

Survivors include her loving and devoted son, Randal Lynn Shore of Brownsburg, IN; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

June graduated from Casey Community High School in 1945, and attended Eastern Illinois Teacher’s College in Charleston, IL for a period of time.  She devoted her life serving the Lord and loving and enjoying her family.  June served 15 years as President of the Women’s Ministry in the Hazel Dell Church of God.  She taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school treasurer, sang in the choir, and was a 4-H leader.  She worked 19 years as a cook for Casey High School.  She enjoyed fellowshipping with her friends, reading Christian books, tending to her flowers and baking.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Emrich officiating.  Burial will follow in Hazel Dell South Cemetery, Hazel Dell, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Friday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
