Janet Freeman Obituary

Janet Louise (Richardson) Freeman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 at the age of 86 years. She was born March 21st 1937 in Casey, IL to her loving parents C. Munson Richardson and Dorine E. (Darling) Richardson. On September 5th, 1955 she married her long time best friend Max Louis Freeman. They enjoyed traveling and making many memories together until Max passed away on January 25th, 1996.

Janet is survived by her sister Beverly June Downey. Daughter, Cheryl Denise Freeman. Honorary daughter Sharon (William) Brewer. Grandchildren, Amber (Brandon) Waugh, Alisha (Joshua) McLin, Seth (Cassie) Brewer, Mallory Brewer, Macey Brewer, Liliana Freeman and Max Freeman. Great grandchildren Lillian McLin, Bentlei Freeman, Kendall McLin, Hadley Brewer, Blakelee Brewer, Octavia McLin and Asher McLin.  Janet considered Dani (Robert) Welch, Maranda (Joshua) Cronkhite and Anthany (Aubrey) Wingo as her own grandchildren and loved them as her own!  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her husband, Max Louis Freeman, her brother, L. Owen Richardson, her son, Gary Allen Freeman and her grandson Brandon Scott Brewer.

Janet was a 1955 graduate of Casey High School. She and Max moved to Woodridge, IL, where they raised their family and she worked for AT&T for many years.   Upon retirement they relocated back to Casey, IL. Janet was a faithful member of Casey First Christian Church.   

Janet was a hardworking woman her whole life, who loved being around her family and friends. She loved to bake and craft especially crocheting and quilting which she did beautifully! She absolutely loved to look at magazines and pick out her next project to work or recipe to make.

Janet loved attending all of the sporting events, band concerts and many other activities for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside on her mower making sure her yard was in tip top shape! She also loved to work in her flower beds and vegetable gardens.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation to celebrate her life, which will be held at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Following the visitation her funeral will held at 1 pm at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Solorio officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. 

All who knew and loved Janet, are encouraged to attend both services.
